Bloomberg has this chronicle of how the World Bank's obsessive pursuit of free-market and free trade policies have decimated agriculture production in many developing countries and severely affected food security.

Massive export subsidies to own farmers , high tariff barriers (as high as 900%)on value added products, non tariff barriers such as raising issue of employment of children in poor countries as labour...?? As is said there are no friends in world , there are only selfish interests!! Taking "friendly advice" can only be at one's peril.
