Reuters selling information to farmers

Here is a story on Market Light, a pilot scheme under which Reuters sells market information on commodity prices to farmers in Maharashtra. Market information on prices is sent by SMS to the subscribing farmers.

because of reasons of illiteracy and low ownership of mobiles, television has proved to be a better medium to disseminate the market information. A further development in getting realtime information is probably through community kiosks -internet enabled.
