Bus Journey

I have been reading Jim Collins' latest book, Good to Great. There is a very perceptive statement about how to run an organization: to create a good company you need to "get the right people on the bus, wrong people off the bus, right people on right places and then figure out where to drive the bus".
I find this interesting and propose to try this out in my Corporation over the next few weeks. For those who have experience of Government , the most striking thing about the statement is the "wrong people off the bus" part. It is common sight to see the focus in activities and processes being frittered away by the presence of these wrong people. But the difficult part in Government is to get people off the bus.
Maybe we can have two buses-with all the right people in one bus and all the wrong people in the other bus. Our priorities with regard to the buses are obviously clear! Who knows... the "wrong people" bus may also have its utility in achieving some of the disparate objectives of the Corporation! (As they say there is nothing called "waste"!)
